2022.09.05 poison ivy in back yard:
I had noticed a few times I was getting itchy blisters on my legs and arms occasionally, with seemingly no
explanation. Then I spotted THIS in my back yard. And it was FAR from the only clump. I returned with
long latex gloves, a trash bag, and a squirt bottle full of Roundup, and went to work.
They were easy to spot once I knew what I was looking for. These plants have long runners a bit like trumpet
vine, but they are VERY strong, and can easily be used to pull up entire runs of the weed. Runners are red
in color and seem to travel 4-12 feet before producing another clump of plants, so they really do get around.
Despite my protection, I still got some blisters on my upper arms (just above the gloves) a few days after I
went on the hunt, but hopefully that's the last of it. I DID find a few more random bits here and there
later, but they got the Roundup treatment and turned dark green and curled up within HOURS of being sprayed.
