Yaesu FTM-400XDR mobile:




This is one of my most recent acquisitions. After having a frustrating experience with the ID-5100 in the
Escape, I appealed for suggestions on a replacement and this came up. It's a much better radio all-around,
having a more responsive touch screen, vivid colors on the display, and intuitive menus. The only thing I
don't like is it has a "software-squelch" instead of squelch knobs. Squelch is like volume, it's one of those
things you NEED to be able to adjust without looking at the radio, touching a screen, and navigating a menu.
You can't really DO that when you're driving, so squelch does NOT belong in a menu.
