back to 2024.04.20 George Wyth Park Foxhunt

2 location 2 location:

Despite being a cold and gloomy day, the park had some other activities going on, includ a "Polar Plunge"
event at one of the lakes. I saw quite a few cars lined up by the lake house, and a big crowd was gathered,
I assume to watch fools brave the icy lake waters. The park ranger / DNR gal was driving around placing signs
for the event as we were setting up.

As for wildlife, I spotted a male goldfinch as I was setting up the beacons, but wasn't able to get out my
camera quick enough to get a picture. For those of you that haven't seen a goldfinch in person, they're a
pretty stunning bright yellow color. But they're very timid and hard to photograph.

Turkeys can also be pretty elusive, but I had to stop and pause my fox-hiding when I spotted a tom and some
hens strutting down the side of the road. Look at the legs on that tom, he looks like he could dig a hole
to China!
