I got this one as part of a suggested enclosure-and-panel combo for a meshtastic outdoor node. The panel has
a USB-out on it but I suspect it's just a raw panel output. It fits nicely inside the weatherproof box, behind
the clear front cover. The interior is pretty big though, probably overkill for whatever I plan to put in it.
The USB connector either provides nothing or 5.1v, so there's obviously a 5v regulator in there. Given the
large size of the USB connector I took a gamble that the regulator was in the connector (and not in the small
solar entrance box on the back) Cut the end off, revealing a black and red wire. Tested for voltage under
light, and was able to get up to 7.8 VOC, so those wires are indeed raw panel output.
This is good news, it will allow me to attach a low voltage MPPT solar controller/1c lipo charger board and
get the most out of the panel. Earlier tests on the USB output could squeeze out 7 watts but at greatly
reduced voltage, so MPPT control may even get more than 7 watts out of the panel, which will be well-
above the panel's 6w rating.
