YWBL filter project YWBL filter project:

The most time-consuming part of the installation was making the holes in the box. This box is a bit thicker than
your standard-issue Radio Shack project box, and as such I wasn't able to use the commonly-available nibbler to
make holes for the powerpoles. Instead I used a sheet metal punch with a round 9/32" die to start the opening
with two holes. Be careful when using an X-acto knife to finish the holes. Work slowly, testing for fit often.

I unsoldered the two posts and cleaned the holes, fitting in some #12 copper wires for the powerpoles and also
for the ground. I didn't connect the ground externally on one of them but I still connected a ground wire in
case I decided to use it, since taking the board back out to add the wire would be difficult.

Despite one connector being labeled IN and the other OUT, the layout is symmetrical so in/out are reversible.

Before gluing, I connected the powerpoles so I could keep them straight during gluing. Make sure to lay down a
thick bead of glue so there's lots of contact area on the box and powerpoles, to provide a strong connection.

Although I don't intend for these boxes to get wet, I installed the white gasket anyway. I you want it to be
truly waterproof, you will need to apply glue to the underside of the PowerPole as well, in addition to flooding
the inside of the PowerPole where the wire goes into the back.

If you're making several different models of filters in this same box, be sure to label them so you can tell them
apart when trying them out.

They shipped with compression connectors, so could probably be used as-is, but I decided to install them inside
plastic boxes. I haven't noticed significant interference being radiated from the boards, and I suspect a metal
enclosure won't have a noticeable improvement on filtering, so this should be fine.

I did have to file a millimeter or two off the ends of the board to fit it in the Pinfox box, not a big deal.
