APC SMX1000:




APC SMX1000 3U or vertical 1000VA 48v 120VAC

This older rack mount UPS was recently removed from an AV rack due to bad batteries, and was headed for the
E-waste scrap pile. I've never worked with a 48v UPS before so decided to give it a go. It's not especially
high capacity or runtime, but can take a fairly cheap network card. The UPS is free, will just have to sort
out a battery solution. The third-party packs for these go for as little as $180 online, or I can just try
to replace the four 7AH batteries myself. (APC gets closer to $290 for the packs)

The card is an "APC AP9631 Schneider Electric Smart Slot Network Management Card" I picked up on eBay for $20.
