Notes on the advanced battery box:

There is no radio installed in this box, but there's room for one inside the lid on the left (more if you
don't use a relay or shunt) or just drop it in on the right on the bottom

Area on the right bottom is also great for storing a 200w inverter, extra DC power cables, HT, multimeter, or
other equipment. partition is movable to accomodate different sizes of batteries

Get the largest battery box you can find that has an adjustable partition, that will allow for flexibility
with battery and provide additional storage space

The handles are exceptionally good. They are very comfortable on the hands and makes it almost effortless to
carry the box despite having a car battery in it. They're also reinforced below with struts, and the entire
shell is a thick PVC, very durable.

You can stand on or sit on the box, or stack heavy gear on top of it without worrying

Although the case is sturdy, it's easy to drill through it for meters, switches, antenna, etc. THE SHELL
IS NOT METAL though. If you want to stow a little mag mount, attach a square of sheet metal on the top with
rubber cement so it has a place to stick down.

Four large ports make it very easy to run power wires, coax, or mic cord out from the box, while keeping it
fairly weatherproof.

You might want to drill a few little 1/8" holes in the bottom for the off-chance that water gets into the box
by splashing. Or leave it sealed to protect against battery leakage. (which is unlikely)

Paracord 550 works EXCELLENT for a hinge. It's easy to install, holds the lid at whatever angle you'd prefer
(mine's set for 90 deg) and is very durable. I considered lots of metal hinge options prior to this but I
don't think I could do better. Unbreakable?

The last few pictures are of a much more basic power go-box. It just includes a battery and a few powerpoles.
There's room in the bottom for a few items (I have a 200w inverter and some power cables) and the top is free
to mount a radio up inside. There's currently a variety of 25-35w dual band little square radios that would
work very well inside the lid. Check out jetstream, QYT, Luiton, usually $75-120.

One mounting suggestion would be put some velcro on the top of the box and bottom of the radio. To use it,
just pull it out and stick it to the top of the box and go.

Check out Walmart's online selection, they sell boxes from $9-18, search for "Attwood" or "Snap-top" group box.
