It's difficult to make a digital camera sensor that's not sensitive to IR light, and the IR can often bloom
stronger than the visible spectrum, so all cameras have a little square of glass in front of their sensor to
block IR light from getting to the sensor.

This means any digital video or still camera can work as a nighttime IR camera if you just remove the
blocking glass. This is pretty easy for webcams, but is more challenging for bigger cameras and video recorders.

Some trail cameras are IR-capable, but to get good daylight video they have a servo-operated shutter inside to
move an IR-blocking glass loup in front of the camera during the daytime. At night the loup is swung out of
the way for taking IR pictures and video.
