2012 American $1 silver Eagle (tarnished):




Purchased on 9/14/2017 for $24

This coin suffered the most intense tarnishing I've ever seen on a coin, looking more like dark copper than
silver on the obverse. The coin was resting face-up, so its reverse still looks bright on the back, except for
around the edge where the tarnish bleeds in from the rim.

I could try to reverse the tarnish with electrolysis, but I've decided to just keep these coins as-is, for use
as a "demonstrational" piece. (while electrolysis would remove the sulfur, it doesn't fully restore the finish,
and counts as "cleaned" for grading purposes, so it doesn't really help the value of the coin)
