figure-8 descender:




A figure-8 is a specially designed link to be used when descending. It's one of the few safe ways to descend
"Australian-style", where the climber is tethered behind their back and is positioned to "run down the cliff"
facing the ground. It's a bit intimidating at first, but the military loves it.
