Petzl Rescucender
Petzl Rescucender:
This is quality rope capture safety hardware, most often used when using a rope as your safety, or when using
a rope anchored above you for positioning and movement. It's designed to side effortlessly up a rope, but to
firmly grab the rope and stop if pulled down on, without damaging the rope.
This is by far the best rope grab I've ever used. Ropes flow smoothly in either direction as long as the gear
is parallel to the rope. The instant pressure is applied on the tie arm, the device grabs and rotate 45 degrees
for a firm lock. The large ribbed pawl provides exceptional grip on the rope without any risk of damage to
the sheath. If you can't just slide it down when needed, a slight lift on the arm will fully release the rope.
To install/remove a rope, releases on both sides must be squeezed to allow pulling the arm back. To capture
the new rope, just push the arm back into place to engage the release clips. A red indicator remains visible
if a clip isn't fully engaged.
The only complaints I have are the unit is chunky (and so a bit heavy) and also takes some focus to install or
remove from a rope due to the narrow admittance gap when opened.
