Recently I've started using Sterelite Gasket Totes for my storage since they're very sturdy, have strong lids,
and are water-resistant. They have less capacity than some of the larger totes you can get, and don't nest as
cleanly as some of Sterelite's other lines of totes, but they work okay. The latches are also very secure.
The totes also make it easier to transport, load, and unload the gear, as well as keeping it organized.
Although there's a lot of stuff that's either not currently in a tote, won't FIT in a tote, or needs to be kept
somewhere else most of the time. But a lot of that is getting unloaded and deployed immediately, or can stay
in the vehicle and remain "on-call" if needed.
I get my gasket totes at Walmart, either in-store or ship-to-home. If you choose to ship to home, order a
few more than you think you'll need. If you get them, you'll have spares. (and you'll probably find a use for
them pretty fast) But you should expect to lose a few in shipping, as the clear plastic can shatter if you
drop the box, and Walmart doesn't ship them with ant protective packing. I just contact Walmart for a partial
refund when the botom one in the box gets shattered etc. They've been very good about refunding ship damage.
FYI the gasket totes ARE NOT air-tight. But they're pretty bug, humidity, and rain-proof, so they're great
for both Field Day *and* months of storage in the basement. I use the 6qt clearview for smaller items that
need to be quickly accessible
