2 arrival and setup
2 arrival and setup:
Colin unlocked the cabinet and had the wood box out front well-stocked with firewood for the wood-burning stove.
The camp road and parking lot at the cabin weren't plowed, but the snow was fluffy and not very deep.
Operators arrived around 10am to begin setup for the event that would officially kick-off at 1pm central time,
although Mark (N8TWO) had already gotten an early morning start on antenna setup before others had arrived.
Mattresses were taken off the two bunks by the front (East) door to use the wood bunks for two radio stations.
I set up the talk-in radio fairly early and did get to chat with a few other hams on the 94 repeater, but there
wasn't any interest in joining us out here in the cold.
With antennas already being set up directly outside the South window, I decided to lay out the solar panels on
the North side, and placed the solar controller etc in the NorthEast corner. The round table to the West was
being used mainly as a food table, although Mark (N8TWO) did set up his lithium battery and logging laptop
(with wireless access point) on the round table.
Taryn (N0TKC) claimed the NorthWest bunk for their inflatable double-bed. (the pump generated a huge amount of
EMI on the radios for the brief time it was running)
