Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur Association (NIRAA/W0MG) Meeting Minutes, June 2016 The June 2016 meeting of the Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur's Association (NIRAA) was called to order at 7:03 pm on June 11, 2016 by Mark Colby (N8TWO). There were 23 members and 7 guests in attendance this evening, listed below. Meeting minutes from last month with one revision (member name correction), accepted as emailed/revised (AE0TB/N0TKC) Treasurer's Report: We have $679.34 in the general fund, currently with 44 active members. (19 of which are not also ARRL members) $15 was paid for the field day location at Camp Ingawanus, $5 for working toward getting the club's nonprofit reactivated. The question was asked if the ARRL does any "kickbacks" as a result of membership, but apparently it's not worth the headache to follow up on. Our treasurer received an anonymous donation to the club's general repeater fund from a non-club member, in the amount of $200. We don't have an official "repeater fund" but these funds will be tracked separately to insure they are spent as requested. Treasurer's report accepted, (N0ZYC/N0TKC) OLD BUSINESS ------------ Our NIRAA/W0MG Hamfest is fast approaching. Dick reports we're in good shape for workers and the committee is on track with preparations. Coffee and rolls will be available inside the building for sale by the cattle congress. Again, setup begins at 7am, sales may be conducted strictly between 8am-12pm, and we must be completely out by 1pm. (we risk getting charged the full day rather than half day otherwise, this is how we were able to get the NCC venue at a low cost) Again no outside food or drink will be allowed either, we risk getting billed for food if members or attendees are caught with outside food or drink. There will also be other food available onsite at other points within the NCC. Christmas Party preparations also continue on schedule. N0TKC has made our reservation at the Waverly Diner. We will be distributing a signup sheet at the Ocotober meeting so we can give them a more accurate attendance count. The party is scheduled for Saturday Nov 12, opening at 5:30pm. Preparations for Field Day were discussed in detail. There doesn't appear to be a shortage of anything - operators, loggers, manpower, continuous operation, setup and takedown crew, power, radios, antenna, food, visiting dignitaries, all is looking good. It looks like we'll be getting well-fed by the Salvation Army as well. NEW BUSINESS ------------ Warren Amfahr joined the silent keys on April 6, a copy of his obituary was passed around. The next VE testing will be held at the CF Library at 10am on Sept 17, contact AE0TB for details or to get signed up. Also FYI the Extra Class question pool is changing now. Family of another recent silent key, John Matthias KD0JNZ, has brought some of John's equipment to the meeting for sale. There is also a sheet being passed around listing other equipment available. There are several radios for sale, including UHF and VHF mobile and HT as well as GMRS. Also a small but widely varied assortment of microphones, antennas, scanners, and other misc accessories are avialable. Call Ken Matthias at 319-239-4460. Motion to adjourn (N0ZYC/W0HHF) There was no presentation this month in leu of final field day discussions July's presentation will be by N0ZYC on mobile installation.
