Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur Association (NIRAA/W0MG) Meeting Minutes, May 2015 The May 2015 meeting of the Northeast Iowa Radio Amateur's Association (NIRAA) was called to order at 7:02 pm on May 09, 2015 by Mark Colby (N8TWO). We had another good turnout tonight, with 18 members (all ARRL) and no guests, for a total of 18 in attendance. Last month's meeting minutes were approved as emailed, N0TKC/AE0TB Treasurer's report was $ 1000.12 in the general account, accepted W0HHF/N0ZYC insurance $247 approved to pay, K0CQH/W0HHF OLD BUSINESS tour de scouts / camporee: - We saw an estimated 50-100 scouts and things went well - NIRAA also received a thank-you letter from the scouts for our assistance - Stan is working on another generation of bicycle mobile antenna that requires only a small value tunable capacitor new tech classes: - classes are currently still on hold for waverly, we're still looking for an instructor there club station for remote control: - waiting on getting incoming ports open on the router, AE0TB is working on it. - There are some coordination issues with the red cross regarding their networking. elmers assigned to new hams: - Curt (NK0T) is working on getting our new operators hooked up with an elmer as desired NEW BUSINESS hamfest in july: - flyers are printed and being handed out - Tom (AE0TB) will email Gordan West to announce it - we also have a facebook page to advertise it on jamboree on the air: - oct 16-18 - mark working on getting coordinated, will be signing up next meeting - inviting girlscouts too (ages 10-12) to see if they will be attending - last year we hadh 18 scouts, maybe need a 2nd station and foxhunting? - contacting the ISS would be a really fun project, though it now requires coordination with the ISS in advance due to increased traffic field day coordination at otter creek: - Tim (AE0UK) spoke with the club about their field day plans - otter creek is outside toledo - 1-3 stations hf, uhf/vhf - shelter reserved - testing mobile vhf repeater - radios will be available but you can bring your own - set up 8-9 am, operation for 24 hrs, 1pm to 1pm, take-down sun afternoon - potluck, tents (facilities?) - tama county may be bringing their EMA trailer down, UHF/VHF station - 1 trailer and several tents set up near shelter, tarp it off - DK0Q glenn (corm?) EMC for tama is there Motion carried 100% to do dual coverage on field day, one station there and one station here.
