2 arrival and setup
2 arrival and setup:
Mark (N8TWO) set up antennas the previous night to help with the one-hour of setup time we'd have in the morning.
I brought about 2/3 of my usual gear since we didn't need as much equipment and there wasn't so much of a need
for redundancy/backup equipment. It was already getting warm when we arrived, but there was a fairly strong and
gusty breeze from the South blowing through the open-sided shelter which really helped with the heat.
Camp staff stopped by with a pair of water coolers full of ice water, so we should be sorted for hydration. They
also had a "rooster" periodically crowing over loudspeakers from main camp, reminding everyone to drink water.
I think I refilled my Contigo about five times, in addition to some pepsi I brought, plus the bottle of Gator-Aid
I was given. The constant breeze kept our shirts dry, but I think everyone's skin was getting a bit crusty from
salt.
Only three of us were able to attend today due to the heat, which was totally understandable. It was only livable
because we had shade, breeze, and plenty of cold water. (the heat index hit 106F)
