back to bike ride Wilder to Heery

4 review 4 review:

The coordinators were accepting suggestions for changes and improvements, helping make future rides even better.
We had some ideas for next time:

- a few days prior, send a biker down the trail and back to identify "points of confusion" where riders may need
hints as to where to go when encountering a fork in the trail
- day of the event send a rider out early to mark forks and place signs and caution tape where needed
- provide checkpoint teams with detailed maps showing everyone exactly where they need to be
- start the ride at the scheduled time (no early departures)
- increase duration of ride, either with a longer run or with multiple laps

On our end there were a few things we could have done better too:

- although everyone tested their HT with the repeater at Wilder, no one tested receive sensitivity (like having
someone else in Allison try to reach it), and that might have uncovered the repeater issue earlier.
- there was no pre-event discussion on what to do if the repeater stopped working
- no "station identifications" were established to distinguish the various checkpoints, such as "Wilder",
  "midpoint", "Heery", etc.

The coordinator assigned a leader to each of the radio groups, to help us and take care of the scout counting,
which was very helpful.
