Initial plans expected around 50 riders departing at 1pm, returning to Wilder between 2pm and 3pm. As it turns
out, the scouts left a little early and made good time to Heery, and arrived back at camp much sooner than
anticipated. The fastest group was arriving in Heery just as we were starting to set up, and they easily passed
the midpoint before anyone was in position.
Things were a little confused at Heery, sine the trail forks and is unmarked for most of its travel within the
park. (basically using the park's internal roads instead of a dedicated bicycle trail) We made the call to get
set up at the entrance of the park, to direct scouts into the park and make sure they weren't taking an alternate
route that bypassed us. This was also a problem at the bridge crossing over Shellrock River, where scouts
could cross over or under the bridge, and some scouts went around our checkpoint.
But we didn't lose any scouts and everyone looks to have had a good time. I didn't see any reports of injuries,
although I believe we had to coordinate the pickup of a few individuals that weren't able to complete the ride.
